www.chinabuses.org: During the events of Universiade 2011, Shenzhen municipal government plans to operate 2011 new energy vehicles, taking over a half of (52.8%) the motor vehicles for the games.

It is known on 19 June 2011, 3810 units motors will serve for Universiade, including 1350 hybrid power buses, 2o hybrid power double-deck buses, 253 electric buses, 26 electric medium-sized buss, 300 electric taxis, 60 fuel cell motor vehicles and 2 fuel cell buses. More new energy vehicles to be operated in this event than in Olympic Games and World Expo.

To confirm the timely launching of new energy vehicle for the games, the local government lays down the related technical configuration standard, production schedule and regular inspection scheme. Shenzhen Wuzhoulong Motors Co., Ltd. undertakes the manufacturing of 1511 units and BYD for 500 units. Also the emergency programme for safe operation of new energy city buses has been drawing up.

Shenzhen municipal government also plans to cooperate with the institutions such as Green Commuting Fund to encourage the new energy vehicles purchasers and to promote the operation of new energy vehicles. During the period of Universiade, “low-carbon green commuting card” will be offered to the citizens.
