BYD Plans to Export Electric Coaches Globally

It is revealed by the executives from BYD that the company plans to produce 700 electric coaches and exports to the overseas markets. It is predicted that the output is going to reach 3000 units by 2012 and 10000 units by 2013.
It is known that BYD automobiles have been currently exported to over 50 countries, mainly to some Third World countries and will open the markets in the developed countries such as Japan, US and Europe with new energy vehicles. Since this year, BYD has made agreement for green traffic with Denmark, Singapore and Chile and the electric coaches will be operated in these countries. Also the related plans in US and South Korea are preparing. In the domestic market, BYD will offer 300 electric coaches for Universiade Shenzhen 2011 in this August, which will serve Shenzhen urban public transport. Based on the plan, BYD will replace all the city buses in Shenzhen and Changsha in further three to five years. K9 coaches, the first electric ones launched by BYD are mainly purchased by the government at present.
