Initial Success of “Ten Cities & Thousand Units” for New Energy Vehicles

www.chinabuses.org: The promotion policy “Ten Cities & Thousand Units” for new energy vehicles has been implemented for two years since January 2009, which aims to accelerate the development of new energy vehicles in China through the national subsidy support and the objective that the new energy vehicles can take 10% of the market shares in China by 2012, referring to 25 cities by far (there are 13 cities such as Beijing, Shanghai, Chongqing and Kunming as the first demonstration ones for this policy). As of now, there have been 190 models listed in the “recommended new energy and energy-saving models” from 54 builders and the production volume of these vehicles is 7181 units in 2010.
It is known that the electric city bus project was formally started in Hefei at the beginning of 2009. On 23 Jan.2010, the first domestic electric city bus route was open in Hefei and 300 electric coaches ran the daily range of 1.15 million kilometers. In 2010, 20 new energy city buses and mail cars were operated in Tianjin.
It is known that “Energy Conservation and New Energy Vehicles Industry Development Plan” will be issued soon, The plan defines the industry transformation of electric vehicles as important strategy direction and strives for the industrialization of plug-in hybrid power vehicles and electric vehicles. The state will make great investment on development and promotion of the core technologies of new energy vehicles and continue to carry on the related subsidy policies, meanwhile, increase the construction of infrastructure for new energy vehicles in the cites as well as the development of key technologies and spare parts.
