150 Hengtong City Buses to Operate for Express Route in Chongqing
27 January 2011
Due to the special geographical situation, the 20% of city buses have to carry 83% of the passengers in rush time. In order to decrease such high pressure, the local government calls for the staggered working hours in the urban central zone since 21 Dec 2009 and Chongqing Transport Kaitou Group started the express routes that reduce about 75% of the stops to shorten the operation time. The obvious effect is appraised by the local citizens.
The group purchased 150 12-meter Hengtong Newman city buses again in the end of December and the first 80 units have been delivered on 15 January. During 20 days, Hengtong Bus completed the delivery of the first 80 units and the other 70 units will be applied in the end of this January.
It is known that Hengtong Newman buses are the low access city buses suitable for China public transport. Since launching in 2007, the buses have been used in many cities such as Xi’an, Lanzhou, Yantai, Handan, Yichang, Guiyang and Zhuihai in mass production and got high approval of the local citizens.
This model is 12-meter long and is provided with the designed passenger capacity of 40-50 people more and about 20 seats more than the conventional city buses, soft seats, low step (about 200mm lower than the conventional one), engine (230 horsepower) and strong power.
