Analysis of China Bus Markets in 2010

www.chinabuses.org: The general environment for China bus industry was rather good last year, longer highway are available, citizens’ willing to tourism was surging, together with improving quality of buses. According to statistics for ninety-eight China bus builders by CAAM, over 400,000 buses were sold out, hitting record high in the last five years. Features of China bus markets can be summarized below:

  
Markets demands increasing rapidly, especially large buses

  
414,500 buses were sold last year, up 27.66%. Sales of large buses saw the most obvious growth, and 75,800 large buses were purchased, up 43.15%. And 260,400 light buses were sold, up 28.06%, and 78,300 medium buses were sold out, up 14.47% over last year.

  
In terms of production and sales ratio, it amounted to 99.77% for light buses, being the highest, and it was 98.31% and 98.49% for large buses and medium buses. In addition, sales of diesel and petrol buses were better over the year before.
 

Markets needs in six main districts increasing, especially tourist buses

  
With sales growth of buses last year, all six main districts saw sales increasing of buses, especially North China and Central South China. Sales of buses in Central and South China amounted 68,400 units, up 39.64%, North China, 59,200 units, up 32.05%, East China, 114,600 units, up 27.52%, Southwest China, 38,300 units, up 14.18%, Northeast China, 34,200 units, up 11.77%, Northwest China, 25,400 units, up 18.17%.

  
In segment markets, only sales of articulated buses decreased, and all other buses, especially tourist buses, saw great growth. Sales of tourist buses were 24,300 units, up 56.27%, light buses, 170,100 units, up 25.75%, city buses, 63,700 units, up 15.04%, intercity buses, 77,100 units, up 29.63%, special buses, 4,800 units, up 44.03%, articulated buses, 85 units, down 49.70%.

  
The top five bus builders taking over half market share

  
Last year, the top ten bus builders remained the same, still Brilliance Jinbei, JMC, Yutong, IVECO, Beiqi Foton, King Long, Golden Dragon, Higer, Shaolin and Zhongtong. Totally 230,600 buses were sold out by the top five bus builders, taking 55.63% market share.

  
As many as 317,800 buses were sold out by the top ten bus builders, 76.67% of china bus market share, up nearly 3% over 2009.
