www.chinabuses.org: In the morning of 8 November 2010, the launching ceremony of new energy and wheelchair accessible city buses and charging stations in university town was held in Guangzhou, which was hosted by Guangzhou Municipal Communications Committee. 118 wheelchair accessible city buses XMQ6106G manufactured by King Long Bus were shown on the ceremony and got high approvals from the participant leaders and visitors with exterior appearance as well as human-centered interior design.

These buses will be used for the Asian Game in Guangzhou from 12 to 27 November and Asian Para Games to be held in 12 to 19 December, focusing on the service for the disabled. It is known that this model is equipped with the newest Yuchai LPG engine, advanced American Econtrol control system with integrated control of fuel and ignition, improving combustion efficiency and decreasing the emission of nitrogen oxides and national Ⅳ emission.

According to reporter's real experience, it seems no difference between this model and conventional city bus in the appearance. The major features of this model mainly show on the human-centered design. Firstly, one-step low access and fixing device for wheelchair are available of the wheelchair (about 30 seconds for boarding).Secondly, LED display screen in Chinese and English and electronic guiding map with information of routes and stations. In addition, audio route identification system is convenient to learn the vehicles on the stop and arrival station through remote-control.
