State Council Strengthens New Energy Vehicles Planning
13 September 2010
www.chinabuses.org: State Council Decision on Development of Strategic New Industry was passed during the State Council executive meeting hosted by Premier Wen Jiabao on Sept. 8. The Decision rules development priority on some new industries such as new energy vehicles.
Central government has always supported new energy auto industry. Sixteen central state-owned enterprises founded the Electric Vehicles Alliance to integrate resources to promote the industry.
Currently electric vehicles are given first priority among new energy auto industry. But there are still disputes on whether high end or low side electric vehicles should be developed.
It is a rather good opportunity for China auto industry now since western auto makers were greatly stricken by the financial crisis and Toyota is in trouble by the recall problems. However, auto industry is not that simple, China auto makers have to improve themselves and make every effort to compete with international auto giants.
In addition, Decision also points out that they will organize great demonstration projects to support market expanding and business model innovation, to establish industry standards system and market access mechanism.
