Changchun Sets up Component Hub
22 February 2010
www.chinabuses.org: Taking advantage of its easy access to one of China's largest automakers, the city of Changchun has designated one of its newly-established industrial zones as a specialist auto-component manufacturing hub.
The Xixin industrial zone, set in Changchun's Luyuan district, is just a 10 minute drive away from one of the major production facilities of First Automobile Works (FAW) - and local authorities hope that this proximity will prove profitable for both parties.
Established in 2006 in the northeastern province of Jilin, the Xixin industrial zone currently consists of an industrial park, a range of research and development facilities, a dedicated residential area and a series of administrative buildings. The zone's completed 3 sq km pilot area has already secured 66 projects, amounting to some 2.5 billion Yuan in total fixed-asset investment. Some 13 projects have already begun operation, generating 300 million Yuan in industrial output value last year.
