www.chinabuses.org: Dongfeng Automobile Company “Key Technology of Fuel Economy on Hybrid City Bus won second prize in China scientific and technological progress in 2009. “As commercial operation of more and more buses with this technology run in Beijing, Hangzhou and Wuhan, research and development ability of hybrid city buses in China is advanced around the world,” said person in charge of Dongfeng hybrid technology project on Jan. 12, 2010.

Dongfeng hybrid city bus belongs to national 863 program and their key products in new energy markets; the technology was successful in 2005, and the first green bus line was established in Wuhan which attracts representatives from Beijing and Hong Kong to visit.

Two years later, Dongfeng hybrid city buses were produced and sold in batches and put into commercial operations in Wuhan, Beijing and Hangzhou. During the Olympic Games, fifteen Dongfeng hybrid city buses served core region of Olympic venues with zero accidents.

At present, the technology has applied in five bus series and totally fourteen bus models with fifty patents, computer software copyrights and national standards. And whole vehicles were produced with 100% self intellectual property.

Compared with conventional buses, fuel consumption per hundred kilometers is cut 30%, and emission of carbon monoxide, carbureted hydrogen and nitric oxide are reduced 74%, 24% and 28% respectively in Dongfeng hybrid buses, achieving great-leap-forward development in fuel economy.
