Production and Sales Volumes of Foton Bus Top the Global Commercial Vehicle Manufacturers

www.chinabuses.org: Our correspondent learned recently that production and sales volumes of Beiqi Foton surpassed 550,000 units from January to November, and they predicts that annual volumes will be more than 600,000 units in 2009, which is 200,000 units more than that of last year, namely up 50%. And Benz, which was the top brand concerning production and sales volumes previously, encountered slumping performance under financial crisis, and the number are less then 600,000 units this year, so hopefully Beiqi Foton will top world commercial vehicle manufacturers this year.

"Till end of 2008, 3,000,000 Foton vehicles have rolled off the production line, and the number will be 3,600,000 units in the early 2010. Foton has been the largest domestic light truck builder for dozens of years and topped commercial vehicles manufacturers for five consecutive years,” said Mr. Zhao. And their brand value amounts to 26,837,000,000 yuan (3,930,000,000 USD), ranking thirty-five in China Top 500 brands, top third of auto makers and the largest commercial vehicle manufacturer.
As secretary of Alliance of Beijing New Energy Association, Zhao Jingguang revealed that Foton has delivered more than nine hundred new energy buses to Beijing Public Transport Company, helping Beijing to be the first city finishing “Ten City Thousand Vehicles” aims.
In addition, Foton has provided seventy-five new energy vehicles to Taipei, and dozens of new energy buses to Jinan during National Games. And about 1,200 new energy vehicles will be produced and put into use in 2009. New energy vehicles have already become their biggest growth pole this year.
Foton long-term goal is to produce and sell 1,500,000 units, excluding 300,000 new energy vehicles, and proceeds of sale surpassing 200,000,000 yuan (29,000,000 USD). And the number will be 4,000,000 units and 300,000,000 yuan (43,000,000 USD) till 2020. And they are going to establish five plants in Brazil, India, Russia, Mexico, and Thailand, each with 100,000 units production capacity. And they are making efforts to enter Japanese and South Korea, Western Europe, as well North America by product structure adjustment and development of high-end auto products and engines. And finally they will break through passenger vehicle with new energy vehicle development and become the first world level auto brand in China.
