23 December 2009
www.chinabuses.org: The first renewable hybrid engine was born in Guangxi Yuchai Power on December 21, 2009, marking a breakthrough in R&D and application of new energy technology.

It’s learned that the engine was co-developed by Yuchai Power and Britain Brunel University. Yuchai Power general engineer Shen Jie told us that renewable hybrid technology is based on existing internal-combustion engine technology to recover compressed air made by engine when braking, and the air will be effectively managed to reduce fuel consumption and emission volumes of CO2, and the acceleration performance of the vehicle can be improved with eliminating of black smoke when accelerating. The invention will further promote energy-saving and emission reduction in domestic regular vehicles. It predicts that vehicles equipped with the hybrid engines will be test produced nest year and large scale of products will be available in 2011.
As the biggest internal-combustion engine manufacturer and independent diesel engines maker, Guangxi Yuchai Power has been leading in production and sales volumes of diesel engines for eight consecutive years. Under international financial crisis, sales volumes of Yuchai diesel engines were 620,000 units, up 18.69% year on year from Jan. to Nov.
