Organization's efforts to Promote Clean Fuel

02 September 2008

China's growing thirst for fuel and its vehicle emission issues, coupled with global oil shortage and the rise in oil prices, place great significance on fuel economy. The central government and regional municipalities have, in recent years, attached great importance to fuel economy and environmental protection.

Officials have started to implement regulations and policies for controlling pollution in all industrial sectors, including the automotive area. However, there is still a long way to go. The Green Diesel Initiative, a non-governmental organization, supports China's goals of sustainable development and environmental protection through promotion of the advantages of advanced diesel technology as well as high quality fuels and lubricants to the relevant government bodies and to the general public. The group continues to serve as the leading authority in China on diesel related issues.

Founded in 2000 by seven automakers and component manufactures, the Green Diesel Initiative is a group dedicated to China's goals of sustainable development and environmental protection through the promotion of the advantages of advanced diesel technology and high quality fuels. Members of this group include AVL, Bosch, Cummins, DaimlerChrysler, DCEC, Denso, Honeywell, MAN, PSA Peugeot Citroen, Scania and Valeo.
