www.chinabuses.org  SAIC Motor proclaimed on November 24, 2009 that it would sign the cooperative framework arrangement with the Tangshan Municipal People's Government about the green energy auto project on 25th.  Both parties set up the strategic cooperative partnership and are ready to make joint investment to establish the production basis with core competitiveness to produce new energy auto on Cao Feidian.

According to the arrangement, both parties will take the development of the electric buses, hybrid power buses and traditional buses as their first step and extend the business range to cover other types based on the practical requirements with the focus on Tangshan, Hebei and North China market.

Chen Hong, the President of SAIC MOTOR showed on the 7th Guangzhou Auto Exhibition that the key of the development of the new energy auto is to form the competitive advantage on the industry chain. SAIC MOTOR will arrange that on the overall industry chain and have their own battery management capability, battery industry chain, the development of the electric-driven gearbox, the integration of the complete vehicle and the its integrated system, including the technology improvement of electric air-conditioners, electric steering and ABS.

"However, there is a process of the development of the new energy buses; the bigger problem is the high cost in the current condition, which requires both the encouragement of the national policy and the supporting facility of the municipal government."he said.

The data published by the SAIC MOTOR shows that the sales volume of the complete vehicle is 2188 thousand from January to October in 2009, up 51%. It is the first bus corporation that owns the sales volume of more than 2 million in China. Chen Hong estimated that the general sales volume probably will reach 2650 thousand for SAIC MOTOR in 2009.
