The first Tangshan Caofedian Forum was held in Tangshan from October 15 to 17, 2009, told by Dongfeng Group on October 18, 2009. Dongfeng Tianyi pure electric buses, self-developed by Dongfeng Group, became appointed vehicles and were praised by distinguished guests.

Caofeidian Forum is a biennial forum proposed and held by China. Nearly 500 guests including United Nations, World Bank, Asian Development Bank, mayors from around Bohai and Northeast Asia, economists who are friendly to China, representatives from Fortune 500 enterprises were attracted. Dongfeng Tianyi is the third generation pure electric city bus, and it can run as long as 200 km with one charge with zero emission and no pollution. Ten Vehicles were provided for the forum, 5 of which were employed as touring bus for guests and 5 for exhibition.
Guests from all over the world were experiencing the vehicle and took photos with Dongfeng Tianyi on the morning of October 16, 2009. Darwin Hyman, mayor of Columbia got on the bus for three times and he praised that he had never excepted we had so nice buses in China. Having ride Dongfeng Tianyi, Swiss Environment protection director stated that he would introduce Chinese pure electric buses to Switzerland.
There were as many as 400 person/time domestic and foreign guests on Dongfeng Tianyi to various sight spots of Caofeidian Forum just on the morning of October 16, 2009.
