BYD Signs Framework Agreement with Deutsche Bahn for 200 Electric Buses
25 December 2025
Recently, BYD signed a framework agreement with Deutsche Bahn (DB), Germany’s largest public transport operator, for 200 pure-electric buses. The deal follows other major overseas orders—210 units in Singapore (Asia-Pacific), 268 in Belgium (Europe), and 194 in Brazil (the Americas)—and marks yet another international endorsement of BYD's technological strength.

Germany, home to a highly developed automotive industry, imposes some of the world’s most stringent technical and environmental standards for public transport. For DB, as the nation’s largest bus operator, this partnership represents a key milestone in its zero-emission bus procurement program and its broader push to reduce carbon emissions.
The two companies already have an established working relationship. Previously delivered BYD e-buses—54 units in Frankfurt and Schleswig-Holstein—have maintained stable operation, earning praise for their long range, high passenger capacity, and low total cost of ownership, while providing local residents with a convenient, comfortable, and green travel experience.
The newly signed agreement covers four models—B12.b, B12.b LE, B13.b, and B15—designed to serve a variety of needs from urban commuting to intercity transport. Both the next-generation B12.b and B12.b LE feature BYD’s proprietary Blade Battery and CTC (cell-to-chassis) integration technology, enhancing safety, energy efficiency, and durability while optimizing interior space.
Since entering the German market in 2020, BYD has secured orders for over 500 electric buses. More than 300 of these are already in operation across cities including Berlin, Düsseldorf, and Munich, giving BYD an approximately 15% share of the local electric bus market and making it the leading Chinese electric-bus brand in Germany. Moving forward, BYD will continue to leverage its advanced technology and deepen local cooperation to support the green transformation of public transport both in Germany and throughout Europe.
