On December 18, 2025, the new product launch event of Foton Motor was held at the Beijing National Convention Center, where the Foton AUV Smart Bus officially made its debut. Leveraging four core strengths—smart technology, safety & reliability, lightweight efficiency, and comfortable space—the model offers an all-new intelligent travel experience. Its launch marks not only a milestone in the development of Foton AUV's autonomous driving technology but also a forward-looking step in building a smart mobility ecosystem, injecting fresh vitality into the future of intelligent transportation.

As a pioneer in China's new energy bus sector, AUV has been committed to the mission of "empowering mobility through technology" since its establishment in 2003. At the event, Han Dong, President of Foton AUV New Energy Bus, stated: "For years, Foton AUV has embraced the wave of intelligence—launching China’s first autonomous buses, carrying out pilot operations in Shougang Park, Yizhuang, and other locations, and collaborating across the industry chain to build a smart ecosystem. In 2025, AUV sold 11,000 units, doubling the previous year's sales and ranking among the top five in the industry. Such recognition of our products and technological capabilities, built upon long-term R&D commitment, has laid a solid foundation for today’s Smart Bus."

Safety is the cornerstone of autonomous driving and the core pursuit of AUV. The Smart Bus integrates V2X communication, big data, and L4 autonomous-driving technology to achieve vehicle-road coordination, enabling safe, efficient, comfortable, and intelligent travel. Equipped with six LiDAR units, eleven high-definition cameras, and one millimeter-wave radar, it achieves 360° blind-spot-free coverage. Three 128-line main LiDAR units at the front can detect small obstacles within 150 meters, handling complex road conditions with ease. The dual-redundant driving system and high-performance computing chips enable millisecond-level decision-making, while a cloud-based platform monitors vehicle status in real time, forming a comprehensive intelligent safety shield.

Designed for both closed campuses and open roads, the Smart Bus supports full-scenario mobility and accelerates commercial deployment. In enclosed areas, its steering-wheel-free "living room" layout with a floating table creates a business lounge atmosphere. On public roads, a driver’s seat is retained, accompanied by a safety driver. Features such as ultra-short overhangs and a full low-floor design optimize interior space and ride comfort, ensuring compliant registration and a pleasant travel experience.

Inside the cabin, a wrap-around cockpit, integrated sidewalls, and hidden air conditioning outlets create a passenger-car-like ambiance. Amenities such as a floating table, an onboard refrigerator, and a custom coffee machine are also provided. The widened sofa-style seats are upholstered in Nappa microfiber leather and ergonomically designed. A suspended ceiling with flowing ambient lighting creates an open and bright environment, ideal for business meetings.

During the annual business conference, AUV also unveiled two intercity coach models—the BJ6116 and BJ6906—demonstrating its comprehensive capabilities in highway, tourism, and commuter segments. The BJ6116, tailored for tourism and commuter services, offers flexible seating for 24–48 passengers and a 6.5 m³ luggage compartment. Powered by a proven gold-standard powertrain, it delivers efficient and comfortable transportation. The BJ6906 targets the highway passenger and tourism markets, with diversified seating configurations for 10–40 passengers and a full-bearing body structure that ensures safety and strength while balancing performance and comfort. These models highlight AUV’s robust capability to meet the demands of diverse market segments.
