A new batch of buses powered by the Yuchai YCS04-100 kW range extender has entered service in Macau, marking a new chapter in the longstanding partnership between Yuchai and Macau's leading operator, Transportes Urbanos de Macau (TUM).

As one of the region's largest bus companies, TUM has built its reputation on a steadfast commitment to "safety, environmental protection, and efficiency," with some of the industry's most rigorous procurement benchmarks. The decision to adopt the YCS04-100 kW units at scale reflects both strong confidence in Yuchai's engineering capability and the deep mutual trust the two companies have developed over years of collaboration.

Since their initial cooperation, Yuchai’s reliable performance and customised solutions have progressively replaced competing powertrains, securing the Guangxi-based engine maker a 100% share in TUM’s fleet and positioning it as the core enabler of the operator's green transition.

The YCS04-100 kW range extender was specifically designed for Macau's challenging topography. Its advanced series-hybrid architecture delivers instant and sustained torque during continuous climbs, while meeting stringent emission standards and significantly reducing fuel consumption—enabling TUM to enhance service quality while lowering operating costs.

This launch provides residents and visitors with a quieter, cleaner, and more comfortable travel experience and establishes a springboard for Yuchai's expansion across East Asia. In collaboration with TUM and other partners, Yuchai will continue to focus on user-centred R&D, delivering premium, tailored power solutions that will drive Macau's next-generation green transport network forward.
