BYD Dual Electric Bus Models Win 2026 German Design Award

The winners of the 2026 German Design Award have been announced, with BYD's high-floor pure electric bus B12.b HF and its 18-meter pure electric articulated bus B18.b both receiving awards for their outstanding aesthetic design and innovative concepts. Hosted by the German Design Council and judged by an international panel of design experts, this award is recognized as one of the world's most influential design accolades. The honor reflects strong international recognition of BYD’s commercial vehicle technology and design capabilities.

The B12.b HF, a newly designed 12-meter high-floor pure electric bus intended for commuter, intercity, and tourist transportation, was recognized for its seamless integration of design and concept. The judging panel highlighted its aerodynamic profile, powerful and distinctive exterior styling, and a luxurious interior that delivers both passenger comfort and an intuitive driver interface. Customized with a sustainable development philosophy, the bus sets a new benchmark for high-end travel.
The B18.b, a key model for urban transit, was awarded for its effective harmony of design and functionality. It features a clean, classic exterior with crisp lines, while offering an extra-large passenger capacity suited for high-demand routes. Equipped with a 495 kWh battery and a maximum range of up to 650 kilometers, it significantly improves operational efficiency. By combining high functionality with passenger comfort, the B18.b has become a leading model for sustainable mobility overseas.
