A batch of Yuchai-engined city buses has just been unloaded at the port of Agadir, Morocco, marking the first hand-over of a 723-unit order placed under Morocco’s “Phase-1 National Public-Transport Modernisation Plan”. The vehicles will go straight into urban service, giving the country’s busiest bus lines an immediate capacity and reliability boost.

All 723 buses share a single, Morocco-specific driveline package tuned for coastal heat, dust and gradients, cutting both fuel and maintenance costs while extending service intervals. Operators say the spec will raise fleet availability and simplify workshop operations.

Yuchai now counts more than 130,000 engines across Africa, and the Moroccan roll-out is expected to accelerate bus renewal nationwide. The new arrivals will also form the backbone of spectator and team transport during this year’s Africa Cup of Nations, shuttling players, officials and fans between host cities.
