TASHKENT, Uzbekistan– In a significant step toward sustainable urban transportation, 202 Yutong E12PRO electric buses were officially handed over in a grand ceremony held in the capital on October 13, injecting new momentum into Tashkent's green development.
The ceremony took place at the Second Depot of Tashkent Bus Company. Distinguished attendees included Uzbekistan's Minister of Transport Ilkhom Makhkamov, Tashkent City Mayor Shavkat Umurzakov, and Wang Jiwei, Chargé d'Affaires ad interim of the Chinese Embassy in Uzbekistan, alongside representatives from government agencies, various sectors of society, and the media.
Minister Ilkhom Makhkamov emphasized that developing green transportation is a key pillar of the "Uzbekistan-2030" Strategy. He noted that Yutong's involvement brings advanced expertise and high-quality solutions to the capital's public transport system.
Mayor Shavkat Umurzakov stated in his address that the introduction of Yutong's electric buses will significantly enhance the commuting experience for citizens, improve air quality, and drive the capital toward a greener, more livable future.
Wang Jiwei remarked that cooperation between China and Uzbekistan continues to deepen in infrastructure, energy, and transportation. The bulk delivery of these Yutong electric buses, he said, is a tangible example of the growing practical collaboration between the two nations.
The delivered E12PRO models boast strong range capabilities, lower energy consumption, and offer advantages such as zero emissions, low noise, and ease of maintenance. The buses feature spacious, well-lit interiors equipped with air conditioning, USB charging ports, and barrier-free access, ensuring a comfortable and convenient travel experience for passengers.
Li Haifeng, General Manager of Yutong Bus Central Asia Region, stated, "Yutong remains committed to driving innovation, providing high-quality products and comprehensive services to partner with Tashkent in upgrading urban transportation towards electrification and intelligence."
To ensure the smooth operation of the new fleet, Yutong has assisted Tashkent Bus Company in completing systematic training for drivers and maintenance personnel, with 450 drivers having successfully graduated. With this delivery, Tashkent has now introduced a cumulative total of 534 Yutong pure electric buses and 267 charging units, solidifying Yutong's role as a core partner in Uzbekistan's new energy public transport sector.
In the golden days of October, these 202 brand-new Yutong electric buses will begin traversing the streets of Tashkent, serving as rolling testaments to the city's green transformation and the firm commitment of both sides to building a sustainable future together.
