Yutong Supplies 723 Buses for Africa’s Premier Football Showpiece in Morocco

30 September 2025

CCTV and Xinhua have highlighted the handover of a record-breaking Yutong order: 723 city buses set to form the transportation backbone for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.

CCTV-4’s “China News” broadcast the departure of the first batch from Yutong’s New Energy plant in Zhengzhou. The buses will be shipped in several waves via the Maritime Silk Road to Morocco, where, starting in December, they will shuttle officials, media, and fans between hotels, airports, and stadiums. This shipment marks the largest single export of Chinese buses to Africa and represents Yutong’s latest milestone in providing mobility solutions for global sporting events.

Xinhua’s “Global Link” programme featured an in-depth report on the project, emphasizing both the scale of the 35th Africa Cup of Nations and the demanding reliability standards required.

Wan Honghai, General Manager of Yutong’s Africa Region-1, explained to Xinhua that the “Morocco Solution” resulted from extensive on-site research. “From the outer panels and body frame to the interior, we redesigned every detail to ensure the vehicles can withstand Morocco’s extreme conditions—intense heat, humidity, drought, and sandstorms,” he said.

The reliability targets are exceptionally high: through computer modeling and full-vehicle testing, the buses were simulated to endure 20 years and 2 million kilometers of operation, guaranteeing flawless performance during and after the tournament.

Service support is equally customized. Yutong has established a dedicated team of over 100 support personnel, trained local drivers and technicians, and built a comprehensive parts network to maintain vehicle availability at competition-ready levels.

The Moroccan order adds yet another highlight to Yutong’s impressive event portfolio—which includes the G20 Summit, APEC meetings, 1,500 buses for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, and a prominent role at the Paris 2024 Olympics. With over 20 years of experience and more than 23,000 buses sold across Africa, Yutong continues to bring Chinese engineering excellence to the world’s biggest sporting stages, strengthening China-Africa ties and advancing global sports with green, reliable transportation.
