Ankai's High-End N12E Buses Power Upgrade of Two Hefei Passenger Routes

02 September 2025

On September 1, a grand launch ceremony was held at Hefei Bus Station to mark the introduction of electric buses by Hefei Passenger Transport, during which 15 Ankai N12E electric buses were officially delivered. Leaders from both Hefei Passenger Transport and Ankai Bus attended the event and cut the ribbon together, symbolizing a new chapter of collaboration between the two parties.

It is reported that the bus body design of the newly delivered N12E was developed by the British design firm Dubiel Design Ltd. These buses will be deployed on the Tongcheng and Lu’an routes, further increasing service frequency, optimizing route planning, and strengthening regional connectivity. The N12E is a new model developed by Ankai based on its N-series platform. With its sophisticated and streamlined exterior, harmonious front design, and exquisitely appointed interior, it is tailor-made for medium-to-long-distance passenger transport, corporate commuting, and tourism rental markets.

The bus features a fully load-bearing body structure, with high-strength steel accounting for over 80% of the build—exceeding industry safety standards and significantly enhancing operational safety and service quality. The power system represents a breakthrough innovation, incorporating distributed wheel-side dual motors and a high-capacity 352.08 kWh battery. This configuration ensures strong dynamic performance and an extended range, ideally supporting Hefei Passenger Transport in delivering “door-to-door” and “point-to-point” green travel services.

As the first batch of new energy buses for Hefei Passenger Transport, some of the Ankai N12E buses will serve not only conventional bus routes but also airport passenger transfers, with plans to deploy them on Airport Express Line 1. This route covers key areas including the city center and old urban districts, allowing the new energy buses to fully demonstrate their significant advantages in energy efficiency and environmental protection, while substantially improving passenger comfort on the airport express service.

Furthermore, these N12E new energy buses adopt an innovative “compact” chassis layout, which greatly optimizes luggage compartment space. The capacity is comparable to that of traditional diesel buses, accommodating up to 120 20-inch suitcases with ease, making it well-suited for handling diverse types of passenger luggage. This enhancement will help Hefei Passenger Transport refine the city’s image and ensure the smooth operation of urban transport arteries.
