12 August 2025
In July 2025, China's bus industry continued its strong momentum from the first half of the year, achieving multiple breakthroughs in overseas markets. With the acceleration of the global "dual carbon" strategy, China's new energy buses, armed with leading technology and customized services, have been gaining traction in cities around the world. This innovation-driven "sea export revolution" not only highlights the global competitiveness of China's bus industry chain but also serves as a vivid example of international economic cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative.
Golden Dragon: Largest BRT Order in Africa
Recently, Golden Dragon Bus has made new progress in the Tanzanian market. On July 17, the largest batch of BRT buses exported to Africa this year was officially delivered to Tanzanian customers at the Haicang plant of Xiamen King Long Travel Vehicles Co., Ltd. (referred to as "Golden Dragon Bus"). It is reported that the first batch of these 200 Golden Dragon 18-meter buses is expected to arrive in Tanzania in mid-August and will be officially put into use on the DART Phase II route in September.
Zhongtong: Major Electric Bus Order to South America
Following the successful delivery of 895 Zhongtong electric buses to Santiago, the capital of Chile, another batch of Zhongtong electric buses has recently been delivered to Concepción, the capital of the Bío Bío Region in Chile, under the Shandong Heavy Industry Group. These buses are the first new energy buses introduced by the local government to improve the public transportation environment and optimize travel methods. With the gradual deployment of these vehicles, Concepción is set to enter a truly green travel era.
BYD: 70 Buses for Italy
Recently, BYD held a delivery ceremony for its first batch of 25 electric buses in Florence, Italy. The official operation of these buses in Italy marks a milestone in BYD's efforts to promote the electrification of local public transportation. The remaining 45 BYD buses will be delivered in 2026.
Yutong: Secures Pakistan's Largest Order
Recently, Yutong Bus held a "Yutong DMT & YEA Technology Launch Event" in Lahore, Pakistan, officially unveiling its new energy technologies DMT and YEA, and showcasing its four main models: H9, H12, E9, and E12PRO. At the event, Yutong's upgraded service brand EnRoute+ was also launched. Yutong signed a procurement agreement for 400 electric buses with its Pakistani partner WIL, marking Pakistan's largest single order for new energy public buses, the largest order in the public transport segment, and the largest commercial bus order in the country, achieving "three firsts" in a historic milestone.
Foton: Enters North African Market
Recently, a batch of Foton buses was shipped to Libya, marking Foton's successful entry into this previously untapped North African market and achieving a historic breakthrough from "0 to 1." This delivery is not only the first purchase of Foton buses by Libyan dealers but also the first Foton bus product introduced to the country, laying a key foundation for further market expansion in Africa and representing an important milestone in Foton's comprehensive internationalization strategy. Note: Some brands' July orders were not publicly disclosed, and the order of this article is not sequential.
In July, China's bus exports demonstrated two major trends: First, high-end buses continued to make breakthroughs overseas, with Zhongtong and Golden Dragon capturing high-end markets in Chile and Africa through customized solutions. Second, the proportion of electric buses continued to rise, with Chinese buses accelerating the replacement of fuel-powered vehicles in markets such as Chile and Europe.
