Mini Electric Bus on the Streets of Moscow: A New Model for Passenger Convenience
06 August 2025
A new small-class electric bus model, the GAZelle e-City, has begun testing on the streets of Moscow. It is a compact and modern type of transport designed specifically for narrow streets and routes with low passenger traffic. The Russian-made vehicle is currently being tested by Mosgortrans specialists.
This electric bus is a revised version of the model that was tested in 2023. The new version has been adapted to meet the requirements of the capital and may become an alternative to small-class buses. The current version takes into account the features of city routes, passenger comfort needs, and the specifics of the Moscow climate.
Technical specifications of the new small-class electric bus GAZelle e-City:
10 passenger seats
Range on a single charge: up to 150 km
Climate control system for passenger comfort
Wide doors with open buttons to maintain optimal temperature
Fold-out ramp and driver call buttons for passengers with limited mobility
Storage area for a wheelchair, bicycle, or large luggage
Improved electrical equipment and software
“We are starting the testing of a mini electric bus suitable for narrow roadways. This innovative Russian-made vehicle accommodates 14 passengers. After testing it in various weather conditions, we will consider purchasing this model to replace small-class buses. We are continuing to develop electric transport in the capital, as instructed by the Mayor of Moscow, Sergey Sobyanin,” said Maksim Liksutov.
