152 CRRC 6M Electric Buses Cruise Through the Streets of Changsha

17 July 2025

On July 17, 2025, following the launch of the micro-circulation custom bus line directly connecting the subway station to the Changsha Ecological Zoo, many citizens have spotted the same type of electric bus. Due to its smaller size compared to the currently operating buses and its emerald green exterior, netizens have affectionately nicknamed this bus the "Baby Bus." On July 15, reporters learned from the Changsha Bus Group that 152 units of 6-meter electric buses have officially been put into operation, traveling through the streets and alleys of the city.

The newly launched 6-meter electric buses are characterized by their "green and agile" features. With their nimble bodies and zero emissions, these buses can easily navigate narrow alleys and communities, enhancing the efficiency of end-line routes such as "village-to-village" and "community buses." They can also serve major urban thoroughfares and tourist routes, effectively solving the problem of narrow road passage and connecting the "last mile" of residents' travel. Routes such as Line 45 and Tourist Line 1, which pass through popular scenic spots and parks, will be the first to be upgraded. Combined with the already launched micro-circulation custom bus line for the Ecological Zoo, passengers can more conveniently visit the city's landmarks, achieving seamless integration of "public transport + cultural tourism."

Based on the tidal characteristics of passenger flow, the Changsha Bus Group has innovatively adopted a dynamic scheduling mechanism of "large buses as the mainstay during peak hours and small buses as the mainstay during off-peak hours." During the morning rush hour, large-capacity vehicles are retained to ensure commuting needs, while during off-peak hours, the 6-meter new buses are the main force, reducing empty running rates and improving resource utilization. In addition, the low-entry design, wide double doors, and panoramic windows of the new buses further optimize the comfort and safety of the ride.

It is reported that after the deployment of these pure-electric buses, the proportion of new energy and clean energy vehicles in Changsha's public transport continues to increase. The Changsha Bus Group has stated that in the future, it will strengthen coordination with urban rail transit and slow-traffic systems to improve the efficiency of bus operations and the utilization of public resources. Efforts will be made to achieve seamless and efficient transfers between different modes of transportation, providing citizens with a higher quality, more convenient, and greener urban travel experience.
