AsiaStar Buses: Empowering Ghana Transportation Development with a New Future
17 July 2025
From June 25 to 27, 2025, at the Ghana-China Economic and Trade High-Level Forum held at the iconic Labadi Hotel in the capital of Ghana, AsiaStar Buses, as an important representative of Shandong Heavy Industry Group, showcased the innovative strength and sense of responsibility of Chinese manufacturing to senior officials from Ghana's Ministry of Transport.
Ghana, as the gateway to West Africa, enjoys a unique geographical location. Situated on the north coast of the Gulf of Guinea, it serves as a vital cargo distribution center in the West African region, with the potential to reach a market of over 300 million people within the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).
In recent years, Ghana has made significant progress in economic development. According to the 2024 budget report, Ghana's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) exceeded 1 trillion Ghanaian cedis. China's trade relationship with Ghana has become increasingly close. In 2023, China's exports to Ghana reached 33.9 billion cedis, an increase of over 20% compared to the previous year, maintaining China's position as Ghana's largest source of imports.
At the Shandong Heavy Industry booth during this summit, the AsiaStar new energy bus models, customized specifically for the African market, attracted numerous eyes. These models are not just exhibits; they are a microcosm of the new future of China-Africa cooperation.
