At 9:30 a.m. on May 16, 2025, Ms. Zhang from Sanmen Town, Tianyuan District, Zhuzhou, received a new dress sent by her daughter in the city. Unlike in the past, this time her express delivery arrived by “hitching a ride” on a bus. This innovative change is made possible by the “Beidou + Passenger and Freight Mail” project, jointly created by CRRC Zhiyu New Energy Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as Zhiyu Company), a subsidiary of CRRC Electric Vehicle, China Post Zhuzhou Branch, and Zhuzhou Public Transport. This initiative enables rural express deliveries to arrive at stations as punctually as buses.

 

Letting Parcels “Hitch a Ride” on Buses
 

Through its self-developed passenger and freight mail service platform, Zhiyu Company has equipped urban and rural bus routes with a “logistics navigation” system. This system enables real-time allocation of “express seats” on buses. The platform connects three major databases: those of postal express, bus scheduling, and Yunzhitong, allowing for intelligent matching of express deliveries with the nearest bus schedules—similar to carpooling. Nowadays, buses on Routes 203 and D153 in Tianyuan District, Zhuzhou, carry postal express deliveries daily, shuttling between towns.
 

Every Parcel Has an “ID Card”
 

“The passenger and freight mail special bus will arrive at the station in 10 minutes. Please prepare to receive your parcels!” As the bus approaches the station, the cloud speaker at the Sanmen Town Post Office issues a reminder, much like a bus stop announcer. From sorting and loading onto the bus to delivery at the post station, the “travel trajectory” of each parcel is updated in real time. This completely eliminates the inconvenience of “people waiting for goods or goods waiting for people,” achieving seamless passenger and cargo transportation.
 

Expanding the Service Reach
 

Currently, passenger and freight mail routes have been opened in Leidashi, Sanmen, and Sanpu areas of Tianyuan District, Zhuzhou. In the future, these services will be gradually extended to regions such as Guyuefeng Town and Wangshiwan Town. Additionally, express delivery brands including ZTO Express, YTO Express, and STO Express will be incorporated into the unified passenger and freight mail transportation system.
 

Innovative Integrated Architecture
 

Combined with the innovative “on-vehicle dedicated equipment—cloud-based collaborative platform—terminal intelligent cockpit” integrated architecture developed by Zhiyu Company, a replicable and integrated rural passenger and freight mail solution featuring “equipment + platform” will be constructed. This solution aims to smooth the micro-circulation of urban and rural logistics, providing a scalable model for other regions to follow.
