Recently, during his inspection tour of Urgench, the capital city of Khorezm Region in Uzbekistan, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev focused on investigating the public transport situation for the local populace. After taking a test ride on a Shandong Heavy Industry-Zhongtong N-series city bus, he praised the vehicle for its outstanding contribution to enhancing the quality of local public transport services.
In recent years, with the accelerated economic development of Uzbekistan, public transport, which is closely linked to people's livelihoods, has also become a key area of focus. As the capital of Khorezm Region, Urgench has been continuously promoting the modernization of its public transport system.
In 2024, Urgench City procured 80 Zhongtong N-series city buses in one go. Currently, these buses have been gradually put into operation locally in batches.
This batch of Zhongtong N-series buses basically covers the main routes in Urgench, serving up to 50,000 passengers daily. With the deployment of these buses, the departure intervals of relevant bus routes in Urgench have been shortened to 5-12 minutes, and the efficiency of people's public transport travel has increased by 38%.
It is reported that all these Zhongtong N-series city buses meet the Euro V environmental protection standards, significantly alleviating the local environmental governance pressure. Meanwhile, the buses feature a low-floor design, greatly facilitating the travel of children, the elderly, and people with disabilities. In terms of driving and riding experience, all the buses are equipped with automatic transmissions, onboard Wi-Fi, and video surveillance systems, further enhancing driving and riding comfort and safety.
Today, Zhongtong buses have left their mark in various regions of Uzbekistan, including Andijan Region, Bukhara Region, Fergana Region, Samarkand Region, Namangan Region, and Jizzakh Region, providing comfortable, reliable, energy-efficient, and environmentally friendly travel services for the people and contributing to the upgrade and development of the local public transport system.
