Jing-Jin Electric North America: Proactively Addressing Trade Uncertainties to Ensure Operational Performance Targets

08 May 2025

On May 7, 2025, the management team of Jing-Jin Electric North America convened a meeting to assess the evolving international trade landscape, formulate strategic measures, and safeguard the company’s annual operational performance targets amid trade uncertainties. The meeting was co-chaired by Ping Yu, Chairman of Jing-Jin Electric, and Scott Taylor, General Manager of Jing-Jin Electric North America.

The management team evaluated that while trade negotiations between China and the U.S. are expected to yield positive outcomes, the company’s sole North American production facility, located on U.S. soil, remains minimally exposed to tariff risks. Given the rigid nature of automotive industry orders and strong collaboration with key customers, the majority of import tariff costs for raw materials will be passed downstream along the supply chain. Consequently, the near-term impact of additional tariffs on the company’s operational profitability is anticipated to be negligible.

In the medium to long term, the company plans to partner with major North American clients to continuously optimize production locations and supply chain configurations. This strategic alignment aims to ensure compliance with localization requirements under the USMCA (United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement), enabling the company to secure preferential tariff conditions and maintain a competitive edge under diverse trade scenarios.

During the meeting, senior leaders also engaged with employees on key operational priorities, including lean manufacturing, inventory management, quality enhancement, and safety, health, and environmental (SHE) compliance. The North American team demonstrated high morale and confidence in the company’s future prospects.

Since 2020, Jing-Jin Electric has established a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Farmington Hills, Michigan, equipped with highly automated production lines. The plant specializes in manufacturing electric motors, power electronics controllers, and electric drive systems for both passenger and commercial vehicle clients. Its products power renowned North American models such as the Chrysler Pacifica PHEV and Ram ProMaster EV, while also being exported to Europe for integration into premium vehicles like the Maserati Grecale EV, Fiat Ducato EV, and Toyota PROACE MAX EV.
