Shandong Heavy Industry Chairman Man Shengan Conducts Market Research in Vietnam

28 April 2025

From April 21st to 23rd, 2025, Man Shengan, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of Shandong Heavy Industry Group, led a delegation to Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, to inspect market development, engage with strategic partners and key clients, and attend major cooperation signing ceremonies. The visit aimed to optimize market deployment, strengthen brand portfolios, expand overseas growth, and contribute to the China-Vietnam Community with a Shared Future. Zhang Gengsheng, Member of the Party Committee and Deputy General Manager of the Group, participated in the research.

Shandong Heavy Industry: Seize the Momentum to Comprehensively Elevate the Vietnamese Market

On the morning of April 21st, Man Shengan first visited Weichai Vietnam Company, met with frontline employees, and chaired a special meeting on Shandong Heavy Industry's Vietnamese market strategy. He heard reports from subsidiaries including Weichai Group, Sinotruk, and Shantui Construction Machinery on their business progress in Vietnam.

Man Shengan emphasized that following the Central Conference on Neighboring Diplomacy (April 8-9) and President Xi Jinping's state visit to Vietnam (April 14), which reaffirmed the "China-Vietnam brotherhood" and high-quality strategic cooperation, Vietnam remains a pivotal strategic and emerging market for Shandong Heavy Industry's globalization. In 2024, the Group's export revenue in Vietnam surged by 79% year-on-year, with a 36% growth in Q1 2025. Sinotruk heavy-duty trucks and Weichai engines maintain leadership positions in the Vietnamese market, earning strong brand reputation.

He outlined four strategic priorities:

Accelerate Market Expansion: Seize opportunities through targeted breakthroughs while maintaining steady progress, introducing new businesses and products to reinforce core strengths.

Deepen Localization: Adapt products, manufacturing, and after-sales services to Vietnamese market demands, forging a differentiated competitive edge ("offer what others don't, excel where others are good, and excel uniquely where others already excel").

Strengthen Strategic Collaboration: Pursue long-term mutual growth with partners aligned on grand visions and shared interests.

Optimize Talent Resources: Recruit local professionals, support expatriate staff, and sustain a culture of innovation and execution to achieve goals.

Weichai Group: Empowering Vietnam's Infrastructure and Equipment Sector

On the afternoon of April 21st, Man Shengan attended the handover ceremony of Weichai's WPG2250B7 high-power generator set to Rox Group in Hanoi, inspecting operational performance alongside Rox Group Vice President Bui Huy Khuong and Biway Company CEO Le Huy Giang. Rox Group, a leading Vietnamese real estate developer, deployed the generator set for a commercial-residential complex's backup power. Weichai's high-power generation solutions now support premium buildings, industrial parks, and data centers across Vietnam, underpinning national infrastructure development.

On April 23rd, Man Shengan visited strategic partner Truong Hai Group (Thaco) in Ho Chi Minh City, meeting Chairman Tran Ba Duyang to review cooperation achievements. Thaco, a major player in Vietnam's automotive sector, integrates Weichai engines, transmissions, and axles into its buses and light trucks. Man Shengan highlighted the "trustworthy, long-term partnership" and urged expanded collaboration across Shandong Heavy Industry's portfolios. Chairman Tran Ba Duyang praised Weichai's world-class powertrain systems and service network for strengthening Thaco's market leadership, pledging to introduce more Shandong Heavy Industry products to Vietnam.

Sinotruk: Pioneering Vietnam's Commercial Vehicle Value Chain

On the morning of April 22nd, Man Shengan inspected Sinotruk's largest Vietnamese channel partner, Viet Machinery Company, in Hanoi. He co-chaired a signing ceremony with Chairman Nguyen Vu Trong for a light-duty truck localization project, aiming to establish a smart manufacturing base and solidify Sinotruk's full-range commercial vehicle leadership in Vietnam, aligning with the nation's green development goals.

That afternoon, Man Shengan attended an order delivery and new project signing event with strategic client Vingroup in Hanoi, joined by Vingroup Procurement General Manager Nguyen Trung Kien and Viet Star Company Chairman Vu Ngoc Hung. Vingroup, Vietnam's largest private conglomerate in construction, collaborates with Sinotruk and Shantui for integrated transportation and construction solutions. Man Shengan pledged to deliver "leading product performance, quality, and lifecycle services" to create value and elevate brand presence in Vietnam.
