ZF Commercial Vehicles Unveils at Shanghai Auto Show: Accelerating Technological Innovation and Project Implementation
24 April 2025
On April 23rd, ZF made its appearance at the Shanghai Auto Show under the theme of "Pioneering Change, Acting Swiftly for Shared Success," showcasing its commercial vehicle division's breakthrough innovations in electrification and intelligent technologies. This theme "underscores ZF Group's commitment and capability to lead automotive industry transformation and achieve win-win outcomes with customers."
Diversified Innovations Accelerate Decarbonization of Commercial Vehicles
As part of its diversified decarbonization solutions for commercial vehicles, ZF unveiled the AxTrax 2 Integrated e-Axle System, featuring a unique modular design that integrates components into a compact, lightweight yet powerful system. This design not only maximizes available battery space but also enhances vehicle design flexibility. The AxTrax 2 can synergize with critical vehicle functions such as braking, advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS), and autonomous driving systems to improve safety and efficiency. It is expected to enter mass production in China by Q1 2026.
ZF's TraXon 2 Hybrid, a New Generation Hybrid Transmission
Amid the transition from fuel to electrification, the TraXon 2 Hybrid Transmission serves as an efficient pathway supporting this shift. It enables OEMs to rapidly upgrade existing models to hybrid powertrains with minimal engineering changes and complexity. While retaining the performance advantages of internal combustion engines, it significantly reduces fuel consumption and CO₂ emissions, effectively alleviating users' range anxiety and enhancing lifecycle cost-effectiveness. In hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs), it achieves up to 14% and 9% CO₂ reduction/fuel savings in short-haul and long-haul transportation scenarios respectively. For plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs), it delivers up to 40% CO₂ reduction/fuel savings, with specific performance data varying by vehicle configuration and operating conditions.
Additionally, ZF showcased its advanced air management solutions tailored for electric commercial vehicles.
