Zhongtong Bus Opens New Chapter with First Nordic Order
25 March 2025
On March 17, 2025, in the assembly workshop of Zhongtong Bus Co., Ltd. located in the Development Zone of Liaocheng City, the N12 series buses customized for Denmark were being assembled and are expected to be delivered to Danish customers next month. This marks the first Nordic order received by Zhongtong Bus.
Since the beginning of 2025, Zhongtong Bus has seen a significant increase in overseas orders: the signing of a strategic partnership agreement with Saudi Arabia's Abshahd Group for 10,000 buses, making Saudi Arabia Zhongtong Bus's first overseas market with over 10,000 units; winning a large-scale bus order in Dubai, marking the first time that Chinese bus products have entered Dubai's public transportation system; launching new products such as the H13Pro super horsepower touring bus and the new generation wide-body light passenger vehicle Navigator M5... "With major customers and large orders as our 'pathfinders', we continue to increase global market sales, expand the influence of the 'Made in China' brand, and strive for a 'good start' in the first quarter," said Wang Xingfu, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of Zhongtong Bus.
Shandong Province has a complete range of industries, and an increasing number of manufacturing enterprises are "riding the waves" in the global market by relying on innovation, quality improvement, and brand leadership, continuously injecting vitality into Shandong's foreign trade development. Since the beginning of this year, traditional advantageous products have maintained a good growth momentum. In the first two months, Shandong's exports of mechanical and electrical products reached 140.03 billion yuan, an increase of 9.5%, contributing over 60% to the overall export growth.
Recently, the "Golden Powertrain" system independently developed by Weichai has completed a thousand-set export order and has been officially delivered to a leading truck manufacturer in Southeast Asia. This integrated power solution, equipped with Weichai engines, Fast gearboxes, and Hande axles, will provide strong support for logistics and transportation in Southeast Asia.
"The breakthrough of this 1,500-set order is due to our precise grasp of market demand and continuous deep cultivation in technological innovation," revealed Wu Huali, Weichai's regional head in Southeast Asia. Previously, the truck manufacturer mainly relied on power systems from Japan and South Korea. Weichai successfully broke this situation with its rapid product iteration and leading technological advantages, especially the breakthrough of high thermal efficiency technology barriers. In addition, Weichai's unique "engine + axle + gearbox" integrated development model ensures high reliability and high transmission efficiency of the products, reduces fuel consumption by 10%, and greatly enhances market competitiveness. Since the beginning of this year, Weichai's engine export sales have achieved significant growth, with the current overseas inventory exceeding 1.2 million units.
"Every time we expand into a new market, we organize a team to conduct local research, familiarize ourselves with operating scenarios, and analyze local regulations and habits," said Ren Xianfeng, Product Manager of Zhongtong Bus Research Institute. Taking the Danish order as an example, focusing on the problem of frequent use of snow-melting agents in local areas due to cold and snow, which easily causes corrosion of the vehicle body, we have greatly improved the corrosion resistance of the vehicle body through adaptive research and development of stainless steel and aluminum bodies.
As a member of the Shandong Heavy Industry family, Zhongtong Bus also gives full play to the advantages of group overseas expansion, relying on the group's resource synergy platform, and works with brother enterprises such as SINOTRUK and Weichai Power to optimize resource allocation and channel layout. "For example, over 80% of the products exported to the UAE are equipped with Weichai Power engines," said Ren Xianfeng.
