22 May 2009

“Int’l Clean Diesel Engine Technology & Bio-Fuels Application” forum was held by Tsinghua University State Key Laboratory and Cummins (China) Investment Co., Ltd. in Beijing on May 19, 2009, the State Environmental Protection Department, National Energy Bureau, the National Science and Technology Commission, Beijing Municipal Environmental Protection Bureau and other relevant associations, universities and business leaders and experts participated in the forum.

SeanMiloy, Vice President and Chief Technology Executive Office of Cummins, said, Cummins has been working for future high performance clean diesel engines, and have made some progress in bio-diesel combustion and discharge .

Professor Wang Jianxin, deputy director of Tsinghua University Automotive Safety and Energy Conservation State Key Laboratory, made a speech on bio-diesel oxygen bearing mixed fuel design and reduce the effects of diesel discharge, focused on bio-diesel non-conventional discharge, and through fuel design making diesel engines without after-treatment technologies can reach China IV Discharge standard and Euro IV discharge standard.

He said ,compared with the United States, Japan and European countries, diversify of sources of bio-diesel in China will lead to different influence degree of actual use of diesel engine discharge characteristics, for this purpose ,we should control its main technical indicators, such as oxygen bearing, hexadecane value, viscosity, acidity and so on.

It is reported this forum provides a platform for governments, enterprises and universities scientific research units.
