The "Belt and Road" Initiative has added another green feather to its cap! In Medan, Indonesia, a green revolution in public transportation is quietly unfolding. In order to improve local public transportation and respond to the global call for energy conservation and emission reduction, the Medan Transportation Authority has recently procured 60 high-end pure electric buses from Higer. This project marks Medan's first batch of pure electric buses and is also the largest single-brand bus procurement in Indonesia, exerting a significant positive demonstrative effect on other regions of the country. It not only represents a major upgrade in Medan's public transportation history but also serves as an important milestone in the development of Indonesia's public transportation.
On November 24, 2024, a grand ceremony for the delivery and commissioning of the 60 Higer pure electric city buses was held at Merdeka Square. Mayor of Medan Bobby Nasution, officials from the Medan Transportation Authority, and Gary Jiang, Overseas General Manager of Higer, were among the attendees. Residents from across the city eagerly gathered at the scene to witness this important moment together. At the ceremony, Mayor Bobby Nasution announced the official commissioning of the vehicles. The Medan Transportation Authority distributed 4,500 bus cards for the convenience of residents.

Mayor Bobby Nasution pointed out that green transportation is a necessary factor for the positive development of a city. The 60 pure electric buses procured this time truly achieve zero emissions, significantly enhancing the quality of life for residents and positively impacting environmental protection. In the future, all buses in Medan will be pure electric, making Medan the only city in Indonesia to achieve 100% pure electric buses.
These buses are the star products of Higer's sixth-generation intelligent and connected city buses, the Azure series. The exterior design retains the classic look of Higer's sixth-generation buses, featuring a front and rear V-shape design and a side design that follows the golden ratio, giving the whole vehicle a fashionable and futuristic appearance. The interior of the vehicles is luxurious, equipped with high-end driver's seats and 26 soft, luxurious passenger seats, providing a comfortable driving and riding experience for both drivers and passengers.
According to Gary Jiang, Higer conducted thorough visits, surveys, and field inspections in the early stages of the project. Extensive adaptive designs were made based on local operating conditions, tailor-making this product for Medan. The buses are equipped with the ECAS II system, which can adjust the vehicle's suspension to appropriately change its height and inclination, facilitating passenger boarding and alighting, especially considering the experience of passengers using wheelchairs and those with baby strollers. The double doors in the middle are equipped with wheelchair ramps, and there are two seats for disabled passengers, greatly facilitating their travel. Considering the local climate conditions, the vehicles are equipped with aluminum alloy wheels, aluminum alloy air tanks, and stainless steel handrails to enhance corrosion resistance.
In terms of after-sales maintenance, Higer has a professional after-sales service station in Indonesia, capable of providing efficient service system support for the vehicles, ensuring customers can operate them with peace of mind.
The successful implementation of the Medan pure electric bus project has significantly improved local public transportation services. These buses mainly serve six core bus routes, radiating outward from Merdeka Square in the center of Medan, and all routes will be connected to railway station stops. The environmentally friendly, comfortable, and convenient pure electric buses have greatly facilitated green travel for local residents. With the commissioning of these high-end pure electric buses, Medan's public transportation will enter a new green era.

In recent years, Higer has closely followed China's "Belt and Road" Initiative, continuously deepening its presence in the Southeast Asian market, and achieving impressive performance in markets such as Pakistan, Korea, the Philippines, Malaysia, and Singapore. In Pakistan, the order for 160 high-end pure electric buses in Islamabad was the country's first large-scale import of pure electric buses and the largest single order of Chinese pure electric buses exported to Pakistan. In Korea, Higer has become a leader in the new energy bus sector and the top Chinese bus brand. In the Philippines, Higer has exported over 1,600 buses, ranking among the top Chinese bus brands.

The delivery and commissioning of Higer's batch of pure electric buses in Indonesia not only bring more environmentally friendly public transportation options to Medan but also serve as a vivid interpretation of Chinese buses contributing to the "Belt and Road" Initiative. With the efficient operation of Higer's high-end pure electric buses, Medan's public transportation will enter a new green era. Looking ahead, Higer will continue to contribute more wisdom and strength to promoting the green transformation of global public transportation.
