Higer Buses Heading to Asia-Pacific, Boosting Peru Green Transportation Upgrade
20 November 2024
On November 16, 2024, the 31st Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Economic Leaders' Meeting was held in Lima, the capital of Peru. Local citizens in Peru voluntarily gathered on both sides of the road, waving Chinese and Peruvian flags, beating drums and gongs, and performing dragon and lion dances to warmly welcome the arrival of important Chinese guests.
Many of them were riding in chartered buses, which were clean energy buses from China - the high-end buses from Higer Bus specifically serving the APEC meeting in Peru. During the meeting, Higer buses also undertook the commuting tasks for the crew of Air China in Peru.
Higer Becoming the First Chinese Bus Brand in the Local Market!
This is the third time that Higer Bus has witnessed Peru "APEC moment" after 2008 and 2016. However, the cooperation between Higer Bus and Peru is now even closer.
A batch of 12-meter Higer CNG high-end buses, based on the KLQ6127 model and developed specifically for transportation demands during APEC, arrived in Lima, the capital of Peru, in May this year. With their comfort, safety, and reliability, they have become a highlight in the local bus market.
On June 27th this year, during her state visit to China, President Dina Boluarte of the Republic of Peru visited Higer. Seeing the photo of a classic and popular Higer double-decker sightseeing bus driving in Lima, she expressed that she often sees this scene and is deeply impressed by it.
It is understood that Peru is one of the first Latin American countries to establish diplomatic relations and a comprehensive strategic partnership with New China, and it is also the first Latin American country to sign a comprehensive free trade agreement with China. China has been Peru's largest trading partner and export market for 10 consecutive years.
Since its export to Peru in 2006, Higer Bus has been exploring the market for 18 consecutive years and has exported over 1,000 buses to Peru. Especially since 2015, when it became the first Chinese bus brand to launch a direct sales model in Peru, Higer has further enhanced its brand image and market share in the Peruvian market, and is now the Chinese brand with the highest market share in Peru's tourism transport and shuttle bus sectors!
In Peru, whether it's tourist buses, group shuttle buses, or public buses, Higer buses are the Chinese buses with higher "visibility" on the streets of urban areas.
From Made in China to Created in China
Accelerating Peru's Green Transportation Upgrade
The Port of Chancay, built by Chinese enterprises and operated by Chinese-funded holding companies, is a key project of China-Peru cooperation under the "Belt and Road" initiative. It will become a new hub port and Pacific gateway port in Latin America, with direct sea routes to Asia.
Yu Shi, the person responsible for the South American market at Higer, introduced that "the opening of the Port of Chancay is a major event in Peru, and special shuttle buses have been arranged to transport guests attending the opening ceremony from the port to the city. More than half of these buses are Higer buses."
In Peru's open market environment, the bus market includes international brands, local products, and Chinese bus brands. Why is Higer Bus more popular?
On the one hand, benefiting from the supply chain advantages of "Made in China", Higer buses balance quality and cost, achieving attendance reliability close to that of European buses at a much lower price for both the whole vehicle and parts. On the other hand, as "Created in China" moves towards high-end, intelligent, and green development, Higer buses continue to innovate and iterate, better meeting the upgrading of market demands in Peru. At the same time, relying on the abundant natural gas resources in Peru, they are accelerating the green and low-carbon transformation of public transportation.
Going Overseas and Entering South America
Providing Chinese Solutions for Asia-Pacific Transportation
With its handsome appearance, comfortable riding experience, and efficient and convenient service, Higer buses have become the preferred choice for many major clients to provide transportation services for major events in Peru.
It is understood that Higer buses were responsible for transportation services during Peru's APEC meeting in 2015, the Summit of the Americas in 2018, the Pan American Games in 2019, and the transportation of the Peruvian national football team during the 2019 Copa América. Local well-known large enterprises such as Peru's oil company, water company, and Coca-Cola Peru factory have also chosen Higer buses for their employee shuttle services.
It is worth mentioning that the new V-series buses from Higer, launched globally this year, adopt new platforms, designs, and processes, achieving significant improvements in appearance, quality, technology, efficiency, and many other aspects, reaching international industry benchmark levels, and featuring more intelligent innovations.
Currently, the new V-series buses have not only been successfully delivered to 25 provinces and cities in China but have also secured overseas export orders from Israel, the UAE, and other countries. Peruvian customers have also expressed high recognition for the new V-series models from Higer, with an initial small batch order expected to be shipped at the end of November.
In its 20-year journey of internationalization, Higer has deeply engaged with global partners, expanding its business to 150 countries and regions worldwide, with a cumulative export volume exceeding 65,000 units. Over the past decade, Higer buses have been widespread in South America, including countries such as Uruguay, Peru, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Venezuela, and more.
The Asia-Pacific region is the most dynamic area in the global economy and an important engine for world economic growth. To contribute Chinese strength to the continuation of the "Asia-Pacific miracle", China's solutions and actions are leading Asia-Pacific cooperation to steady progress. Higer buses are also exporting "Higer solutions" to the Asia-Pacific region and even globally, continuously driving the continuous innovation and upgrade of global public transportation.
