Dali Introduces Golden Dragon Buses STREAM and POLESTAR in Batches

11 November 2024

In 2024, Dali Public Transportation Company Solely State-owned Limited Liability Company (hereinafter referred to as Dali Public Transportation Company) introduced a batch of Golden Dragon STREAM and POLESTAR buses. These new buses, with their exceptional comfort, elderly-friendly and humanized design, as well as green, efficient, and low-cost operational benefits, have injected strong vitality into the innovative development of urban transportation.

"This year, we have introduced two models of Golden Dragon buses. One is the 10.5-meter STREAM bus, mainly used for the optimization of regular bus routes; the other is the 10.5-meter POLESTAR, which is mainly deployed on Dali newly opened first bus tourism dedicated line. This is Dali Public Transportation Company deep exploration into customized bus development and the latest expansion of 'bus + cultural tourism'," said Luo Bin, Deputy General Manager of Dali Public Transportation Company. With the advancement of the times and technological progress, the changing structure of travel modes reflects the increasingly diverse and differentiated travel needs of the people. This poses several challenges to bus development: firstly, bus services are being upgraded rapidly, requiring higher bus operational efficiency and continuous route optimization; secondly, there are higher requirements for vehicle quality and intelligent development. The introduction of the new Golden Dragon STREAM and POLESTAR models will well meet the quality travel needs of the people and is a manifestation of Dali Public Transportation Company further efforts to improve quality and efficiency.

In terms of vehicle design, both the Golden Dragon STREAM and POLESTAR share a common feature of humanized and intelligent technological design. The buses are equipped with a new generation of high-performance batteries, highlighting their energy-saving advantages, and high-power motors make the buses more powerful when climbing slopes. Moreover, all buses adopt a low-entry one-step design, which was not present in previous buses. Additionally, the interior space is spacious, making it easier to move around, and each row of seats is equipped with responsive stop buttons and USB charging ports, allowing passengers to charge their phones at any time. By simply pressing the button when getting off, the driver will be notified, making it more convenient for passengers to board and alight.

"Priority for buses means excellence in buses. It can be said that this batch of buses represents the highest quality and most advanced technology among Dali's buses in the new era. The Golden Dragon STREAM and POLESTAR closely follow the changes in travel patterns in the new era, incorporating various elderly-friendly designs, greatly facilitating the travel of the elderly and ensuring a pleasant daily commute for citizens," said Luo Bin. Vehicles and other hardware facilities are a key aspect of creating an elderly-friendly and barrier-free travel environment, which is also a focus that the Ministry of Transport has been continuously strengthening in recent years. In the past two years, Yunnan Province has accelerated the promotion and application of low-floor and low-entry city buses to create a barrier-free travel environment for the elderly and other special groups.

By strengthening the foundation and focusing on the travel needs of the people, Dali Public Transportation actively integrates into the new urban development pattern, striving to build a convenient, safe, and green bus service system, and weaving a satisfying urban public transportation network for the people.

On July 26th this year, the first Dali Tourism Bus Express Line was launched. The 10.5-meter wide and comfortable pure electric bus, with its atmospheric appearance, low entry, air conditioning, soft seats, spacious interior, and other high-end configurations and humanized design, aligns with the image of buses in the new era. Upon its launch, the POLESTAR, with its comfort, convenience, and efficiency, has greatly attracted tourists, and the occupancy rate has been steadily increasing.

Luo Bin said that for this bus + tourism dedicated line, extensive market research was conducted beforehand, considering factors such as station settings, route alignment, tourist travel patterns, vehicle selection, ticket prices, weather, and the season of operation. After its launch, the bus operates around 5-6 trips per day, with each trip covering 37 kilometers and taking approximately 40 minutes round trip. The route is mainly connected to the high-speed rail, with departures starting at 9:00 am and a denser schedule during midday. This greatly facilitates tourist travel, and the reasonable route layout and comfortable riding experience have made the company's initial attempt at bus + cultural tourism integration achieve the expected results.

With the vastness of the tides and the sky, the ancient city of Dali, nestled in a beautiful ecological environment and rich historical culture, is shining with new splendor. By firmly grasping the path of bus + cultural tourism integration, Dali Public Transportation, in partnership with Golden Dragon, is accelerating its transformation and moving forward, empowering the city with better travel options. Luo Bin said, "Currently, Dali's new high-speed rail station is also under construction. In the future, there will be more tourists coming to Dali, which will inevitably drive the demand for tourism express lines and other services."
