On October 8, 2024, the first batch of 20 electric buses for BYD South African order rolled off the production line at BYD Qingdao factory. This marks another significant milestone following the collaboration agreement reached between the two parties in July this year.

Tian Chunlong, General Manager of BYD Commercial Vehicle Division, and his team met with Meyer Francois, CEO of South African operator Golden Arrow, to discuss cooperation models and operational support, jointly facilitating the smooth deployment of the electric bus fleet.

From real-world testing of electric buses since 2021 to securing a 120-bus order in July 2024, BYD electric buses have gradually expanded into the South African market with their advanced technology and reliable quality, earning customer recognition. The 120 electric buses currently in production are specifically optimized for local climate conditions and transportation needs, marking the first electric bus fleet in South Africa.
