BYD Electric Buses to Arrive in Mexican Government for Operation

Recently, a batch of 20 units BYD electric buses were officially delivered to Mexican Government for operation. Martí Batres Guadarrama, mayor of Mexico City, Andrés Lajous Loeza, secretary of the Transport Bureau of Mexico City, Rosario Castro Escorcia, General Manager of Metrobús in Mexico City, Alberto Adib Carrera, Director of Mexican National Financial Development Center, Zou Zhou, BYD Mexico, together with a number of other officials witnessed the historical moment.

“BYD’s zero-carbon emission public transport solution fully showcases our commitment to providing more environmentally-friendly transportation services for people in Mexico City. By closely working with BYD, we are going to put more electric buses on the road”, said Rosario Castro Escorcia, General Manager of Metrobús in Mexico City.

Measuring 15-meter in length, BYD electric bus has a low-floor access and is able to load 130 passengers at most. With a power storage of 300 kW.h, it can drive 200 km continuously. In addition, its recharging time can be cut to just three hours. Boasting a more quiet traveling space for passengers, BYD electric bus also has barrier-free facilities on board for physically challenged passengers. With its communication system directly connected to the bus operator’s control center, BYD electric bus achieves higher safety standards.

According to BYD, it secured an order of 55 units electric buses from Mexican Government. After their arrival, the first delivery of 20 units BYD electric buses will be put into service on Bus Route No. 4 in Mexico City, serving 120,000 passengers each day and helping cutting carbon emissions by 5,845 tons each year. With a distance of 35 kilometers, Bus Route No.4 has 40 stations.
