Belt & Road Cooperation Enables Higer to Become the Leading Bus Brand in Algeria

Located in northern Africa, Algeria has been witnessing robust development in recent years. In July this year, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, Algerian president, paid his visit to China and signed 19 agreements for cooperation with China, showing the country’s determination to work closely with China for mutual benefits and shared development.

As a part of Algeria’s livelihood projects, Higer has been operating in the country for a decade, providing more convenient and more comfortable transportation services for local residents and becoming the leading bus brand in the country. In 2023, the bus maker delivered 450 units buses to the country, adding the total number of Higer buses & coaches working in Algeria to almost 9,000 units. When taking the interview, many local residents raised their thumbs, saying Higer buses and coaches have truly made travel much easier for them.

At the 19th Mediterranean Sport Meeting held in Oran in 2022 and the 15th Arabs Sports Meeting held in Alger in 2023, Higer buses successfully accomplished their transportation tasks, fully showcasing its high reliability and impressive performances.

Since China officially launched the Belt & Road Initiative in 2013, Algeria has been working closely with China to build the modern version of Belt & Road. In 2017, Higer decided to build a joint venture in Algeria, providing production equipment, CKD spare parts and technologies. Through working closely with its local dealer, Higer has quickly established solid presence in the country. Besides, it has created over 200 job opportunities for local people.
