A joint venture, set up by Foton and Commins, will start manufacturing engines in late May. The first batch of its products will be used to equip Aumark light-duty trucks. Sources revealed that Foton’s first high-end light-duty truck equipped with Commins 3.8-liter engine will hit showroom in late May with a price tag over RMB 110,000 (USD 16,124.47).

According to an official with Foton Marketing Company, the Commins 3.8-liter engine is the engine builder’s first diesel engine to equip light-duty vehicles in the global market. For this reason, Aumark light-duty truck will be marketed in the global market at the same time. It is expected that its sales volume can reach 10,000 units in both domestic and overseas markets in 2009.

  
Having met Euro IV Emission Standards, Commins 3.8-liter diesel engine can be upgraded to live up to Euro V Emission Standards. It can improve fuel economy by 5%~7% and raise kW/rpm by 10~20kW.

It is revealed that Commins 2.8-liter engine, which is planned to equip Aumark as well, will realize series production in later this year.
