Golden Dragon Polestar Reaches Level-3 Autonomous Driving Capacity
17 August 2022
Recently, Golden Dragon’s 8.5-meter Polestar with level-3 (L3) autonomous driving capacity successfully completed a series of performance tests in Zhangzhou, Fujian Province, becoming the third member in Golden Dragon’s autonomous driving bus family (the first two include the 6-meter and the 10.5-meter autonomous driving buses).
Built on its predecessor, Star series autonomous driving buses, Golden Dragon Polestar is readily adaptable to various working conditions, suitable for commercial operation on both closed and open roads. It can perform a number of sophisticated tasks, including autonomous start and stop, autonomous cruising, avoiding barriers, emergency braking, etc. Far from being just a bus, Polestar represent a package of autonomous driving solutions for customers. Based on its intended working environment, Polestar bus offers route mapping, optimized human-machine interaction, customized meters and controllers, etc.
According to Golden Dragon, buses with L3 autonomous driving capacity require human drivers on board when in operation while those with L4 autonomous driving capacity achieve even higher autonomy and work only in some special environments, such as ports and fully closed roads.
Golden Dragon’s second generation autonomous driving Star series buses made their debut in 2018. So far, nearly 200 units L4 autonomous driving Star buses have been put into service in dozens of cities across the globe, accumulating a total mileage of over one million kilometers.
