Recently, China’s State Council, the Cabinet, officially released the Action Plan for Carbon Dioxide Emission Peaking Before 2030. According to the plan, building greener and low-carbon transportation networks is one of the ten major concrete steps that will be taken by China to achieve its goal by 2030.
Against such a backdrop, Zhongtong, one of the leading bus makers in China with a history of fifty years, has been committed to developing and promoting electric buses and hydrogen fuel cell buses to help many cities across China to cut their carbon emissions.
In 2004, Zhongtong started developing new energy buses. Two years later, it successfully developed China’s first unit electric bus. At Beijing Olympic Games in 2008, Zhongtong electric buses were put into operation, fully showcasing China’s commitment to promoting green public transportation.
In January, 2009, 80 units Zhongtong hybrid buses were delivered to Jinan Public Transport for operation, representing a new milestone for the bus maker. In 2011, it further strengthened its efforts to develop and market new energy buses. In the same year, its new energy buses made their way to Tianjin, Inner Mongolia, Zhejiang and Hainan.
In 2015, Zhongtong sold over 8,000 units electric buses. In the same year, its new energy buses sold over 10,000 units. The bus maker boasted a market share of nearly 20%. From 2016 to 2018, Zhongtong’s 8-meter and 10-meter electric buses enjoyed great popularity in the market.
In 2019, Zhongtong new N series electric buses mad their debut. In the same year, its electric buses were exported to South Korea, Austria, Argentina, Chile, etc.
Currently, over 70,000 units Zhongtong new energy buses are working smoothly across the globe, providing greener and more convenient travel services for passengers.
Apart from electric buses, Zhongtong also attaches paramount importance to developing and marketing hydrogen fuel cell buses. Since 2014, it has been playing a leading role in the hydrogen fuel cell bus market. In 2017, it successfully rolled out 9-meter, 12-meter road coaches and a city bus, all of which are powered by hydrogen.
Currently, Zhongtong boasts a wide spectrum of hydrogen fuel cell buses and coaches, which have made their way to many cities across China. Its new N series hydrogen fuel cell bus, achieving high energy efficiency, high safety standards and high reliability, has already gained wide recognition among bus operators.
According to the bus maker, several batches of Zhongtong fuel cell buses have already been delivered to Zhangjiakou, ready for serving 2022 Beijing Winter Olympic Games.
