On September 20, the 67th IAA Commercial Vehicles Hanover (IAA) officially kicked off. First held in 1897, IAA has witnessed the amazing transformation in the world’s auto industry for the past 100-plus years and has become the most influential event in the field.
With the theme of “Smarter Mobility with CRRC”, the company revealed its new smart bus equipped with a super powerful electric motor. As the biggest highlight of the vehicle, the electric motor is independently developed by CRRC. Considered as the heart of electric vehicles, it adopts the most advanced double-winding systems for the motor, just like the appearance of dual core processor for a CPU years ago. Thanks to this, the new motor delivers 50% more powerful performances compared with other motors and is able to operate more smoothly.
According to CRRC, the double-winding systems can work together or independently. When one winding system fails, the other is still able to ensure the smooth operation the bus.
“The double-winding systems are the latest technological breakthrough for the electric buses,” says Guo Shuying, an electric vehicle expert.
So far, the super electric motor has already gone through stringent tests on demanding slopes and in areas with high altitudes. Having been working smoothly in various extreme weather conditions in Northeast China, Shandong, Sichuan, Hainan, Xinjiang, the motor has gained wide recognition among customers in France, New Zealand, Malaysia, Belarus.
Also worth mentioning on CRRC’s new smart bus is the vehicle’s T-power system. Reaching a protection level of IP68, the system easily deals with various demanding working conditions, such as on roads with pooled waters and in areas with high altitudes or super high/low temperatures.
To ensure a more comfortable and undisturbed working environment, CRRC’s new smart bus has a sealed driver’s cockpit. Its front windshield takes up two thirds of the vehicle’s overall front area, giving the driver the widest possible view. In addition, its integrated dashboard and LED dashboard screen makes it much more convenient for the driver to maneuver the vehicle.
Also on the vehicle is an intelligent safety system, which consists of lane deviation alarming, anti-collision alarming, panoramic monitoring, self-adaptation driving. With all these state-of-art technologies, the new smart bus has pushed the safety standards of electric buses to a new historical height.
With low floor access, passengers can move around more freely. Its ECAS and electronically controlled foldable step make boarding no longer a problem for the young, the old, and those physically challenged.
Having lost 800 kg weight, CRRC’s new smart bus is still highly resilient thanks to the adoption of reinforced steel materials and sealed ring structure design.
At its exhibition booth, the new smart bus attracted much media and public attention. Customers also showed keen interest in the new electric bus. “I am so pleased that I can take a closer look at the new vehicle. It’s just amazing,” said one customer from France.
Committed to promoting the sound and fast development of the new energy bus industry, CRRC has so far set up its own production bases in Guangzhou, Ningbo, Wuxi, Changde, Shijiazhuang. In addition, it has obtained patents for over 500 bus manufacturing technologies.
By 2025, the bus maker is expected to reach an annual production capacity of 300,000 units new energy vehicles, one million units electric driving systems and 20Gwh energy storage units. (www.chinabuses.org)
