Zhongtong Overseas Expansion Gains New Momentum

In 2014, Zhongtong secures an order of 2,186 sets from Saudi Arabia customer
In just over a decade, Zhongtong’s overseas sales volume jumped from less than 100 units to several thousands units each year. Thanks to the high quality of its products and the company’s tremendous efforts made in its overseas expansion, Zhongtong saw an explosion of its overseas sales in 2011. In that year, it exported 1,600 units buses to Saudi Arabia and 110 units buses to Chile.
In 2012, Zhongtong’s export volume stood at almost 2,000 units.
In 2013, 576 units Zhongtong buses arrived in Saudi Arabia for operation and 126 units Zhongtong buses started operation in Morocco.
In 2014, the bus maker successfully won a major order of 2,186 units school buses from its customers in Saudi Arabia and delivered all vehicles in 45 days, making a new record in China’s bus manufacturing industry.
In early 2015, a grand ceremony was held to mark the export of the company’s 20,000thunit bus, ushering a brand new era for the bus maker’s overseas expansion.
Zhongtong Overseas Expansion Gains New Momentum
From January to September this year, Zhongtong’s exports grew by 92.9% year on year and its overseas sales revenue went up by 108% year on year. In late April, 50 units Zhongtong luxury double-deckers were delivered to its customer in Ecuador. In September, Zhongtong struck a deal with South Korea for 20 units whole aluminum electric city buses.
Also in 2017, Zhongtong has increased its market share in Philippines to 16.8%. Zhongtong received a combined order of 600 units buses from Saudi Arabia. Sources reveal that the average price for Zhongtong buses sold in the overseas market stands at 600,000 RMB, ranking the first place among its counterparts in China.
In early days, Zhongtong was like a hunter, following the footsteps of its customers. Along with its growing business presence abroad, it has been gradually transforming itself from just a “hunter” to a “farmer”, making great efforts in exploring the full market potentials. By focusing on a few key overseas markets and allocating all its best resources in those markets, it has successfully realized sound and fast development. Through innovating its marketing strategies and building its own sales networks, it has soon gained recognition and popularity in a number of countries and regions.
Currently, Zhongtong buses operating in the overseas markets cover a wide spectrum of products, ranging from city buses, high-end travel coaches, school buses, airfield buses, to BRT buses. In a number of countries, such as Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Chile, Paraguay, Ecuador, Morocco, Tanzania, Thailand, Philippines and Indonesia, Zhongtong now already boasts a formidable presence.
Being a socially responsible company, Zhongtong has always been ready to lend a helping hand to people in need. In 2016 when a powerful earthquake struck Ecuador, Zhongtong immediately contacted its local distributor and organized 123 units Zhongtong buses to the quake-stricken areas, sending relief materials and rescuing workers. In face of such a natural disaster, Zhongtong was not deterred and Zhongtong buses also smoothly accomplished all its transport tasks.
