In the past, Zhongtong mainly exported school buses and city buses to Saudi Arabia. However, its high-end coaches have become increasingly popular in recent years. Take the 12-meter Zhongtong Shijia coach for example. It has been gaining unprecedented popularity in the nation. The coach, equipped with Dongfeng Cummins ISLe8.9 375 horse power engine, boasts strong power and achieves high profitability for its operators.

Dongfeng Cummins ISLe8.9 375 horse power engine, also known as the star engine for large- and medium-sized coaches, is chiefly used for those 12-meter buses and coaches. So far, the engine has not only gained a formidable presence in China, but has been well received in the Middle East and Latin America. Despite the harsh weather conditions in some overseas market, such as Saudi Arabia, Zhongtong buses and coaches equipped with Dongfeng Cummins engines can well adapt to the local operation conditions and deliver performances far exceeding their operators’ expectations.

Dongfeng Cummins ISLe8.9  Engine

To better serve their customers, Dongfeng Cummins and Zhongtong have been cooperating very closely in a number of areas in recent years, such as personnel training, service networks and spare parts provision.

Zhongtong officially entered Saudi Arabia in 2008 by winning an order of 1,600 units buses. Since then, the bus maker has been rising steadily in popularity in the country. Each year, hundreds of new Zhongtong buses and coaches have been put into operation. In 2014, a total number of 2,186 units Zhongtong school buses were exported to the country, serving hundreds of thousands of school kids in Saudi Arabia.

To strengthen its presence, Zhongtong maintains close business ties with Dongfeng Cummins. According to Sun Qian, Overseas Sales Manager of Dongfeng Cummins, most of high-end Zhongtong buses in Saudi Arabia are equipped with engines made by Dongfeng Cummins.

Saudi Arabia boasts the biggest auto market in the Gulf Region. Statistics show that over 20 auto makers from China have already established their presence in the nation.
