www.chinabuses.org: On November 9 Scania Higer’s new factory for producing luxury coaches was officially put into operation, making a new milestone in the history of Higer. With a total investment of 200 million RMB, the new factory covers an area of 22,004 square meters and is able to manufacture 1,000-plus units Scania Higer luxury coaches each year. Wu Qingwen, Vice Mayor of Suzhou, Lin Li, Consul General of Sweden to Shanghai, and a number of other officials attended the ceremony to mark the historical moment.

Wu Qingwen, Vice Mayor of Suzhou, while congratulating on the operation of the new factory, said Scania Higer is a landmark enterprise in Suzhou and expressed his hope to build the factory into an internationally competitive production base for luxury buses.
Fully acknowledging the achievements of the two companies, Lin Li, Consul General of Sweden to Shanghai pointed out that public transport is an essential way to enhance sustainable development across the globe. She also expressed her best wishes for the two companies, hoping them to further integrate and complement their business.
Also at the ceremony, Huang Shuping, General Manager of Higer, and Karin, Senior Vice President of Scania Bus Branch, signed an agreement for in-depth cooperation. Together with a few other distinguished guests, they cut ribbons for the new Scania Higer factory, ushering a new era of cooperation for the two parties.

In 2007, Higer officially signed an agreement for strategic cooperation with Scania. From Scania Higer A80, A30, A50, and A90 to Touring, from an export volume of just 16 units in 2007 to 450 units in 2015, and from just a single production line to a whole new factory, Scania Higer has accomplished several transformations. And the new factory will be committed to carrying out comprehensive technological cooperation and product promotion between the two parties, leading Higer to further speed up its internationalization.
Now, Scania boasts the world’s leading bus chassis technologies and best manufacturing facilities. After several rounds of negotiations, Scania and Higer, reached a consensus for manufacturing Scania Touring series luxury buses and Scania Higer buses. Now, the two parties mainly focus on exploring the high-end coach market.
In 2012, Scania Higer officially entered Myanmar and in the same year, its total sales volume in the country stood at 57 units. Currently, nearly 200 units Scania Higer luxury coaches are working smoothly in Myanmar, a leading brand in the nation’s high-end bus market.
As of 2015, the number of Scania Higer luxury coaches reached 2,035 units across the world. To date, Scania Higer luxury coaches have successfully made their way to over 40 countries and regions across the world, including Britain, France, Belgium, Germany, and Australia. It is now one of the leading brands from China in the overseas high-end bus market.
Apart from its fast expansion abroad, Scania Higer has also maintained a fast growing momentum in China. So far, it has established a visible presence in Shanghai, Guangdong, Sichuan, Shanxi, Hebei and Yunnan. In Jun. this year, 16 units Scania Touring luxury coaches were officially delivered to Shanghai Airport Bus Co., Ltd. for operation, making a new record for domestic bus operators purchasing luxury coaches.
In 2016, the total sales volume of Scania Higer is expected to reach 570 units, up by 27% year on year.
