June 4, 2026, Beijing — BAIC Foton Motor unveiled its official monthly production and sales bulletin for May 2026, with total vehicle sales hitting 58,191 units, up from 49,604 units in the same month of 2025. Its cumulative sales from January to May reached 302,096 units, a year-on-year rise of 10.00%.

The firm’s commercial vehicle lineup covers trucks and full-range buses, with detailed bus sales results newly added to the report.
Truck Segment
Medium & heavy-duty trucks (including Foton Daimler): 18,195 units sold in May; Jan-May total 84,312 units, +39.52% year-on-year. Foton Daimler alone sold 11,112 heavy trucks in May.
Light-duty trucks: 36,078 units in May; cumulative 197,958 units, up 2.50% from last year.
Full Bus Lineup (Large / Medium / Light Buses)
Large buses: 216 units in May (189 units YoY); Jan-May total 1,071 units, down 9.47% cumulatively.
Medium buses: 145 units in May (364 units YoY); cumulative 848 units, jumping 39.93% year-on-year, the best-performing bus category.
Light buses: 2,919 units in May (3,317 units YoY); Jan-May total 15,221 units, a mild 5.09% cumulative drop.
Passenger Vehicles & New Energy
Traditional passenger cars: 638 units sold in May, cumulative 2,686 units (-17.48%).
New energy vehicles (pure EV, fuel cell, plug-in hybrid): 12,354 units in May versus 8,097 last year; cumulative 45,626 units (+9.02%).
Engine Business (Foton Cummins included)
Engine sales reached 29,089 units in May, with 132,104 units in the first five months, rising 16.69% year-on-year. Foton Cummins contributed 18,276 engine units in May.
Production Overview
Total vehicle output in May stood at 55,938 units. Medium bus production dipped while large bus output grew month-on-month, and light bus production declined notably versus last year. Overall cumulative production for Jan-May was 306,273 units, up 7.96% year-on-year.
Industry analysts said Foton’s diversified bus portfolio complements its dominant truck business, supporting stable overall sales growth alongside booming new energy and overseas market expansion.
