China VAN in May: An Increase of 16.2% Year-on-Year

According to the latest data from China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, in May 2024, China sold 33,700 light buses of various models, a slight decrease of 1.8% month-on-month, but an increase of 16.2% year-on-year. This growth rate was higher than the year-on-year growth rate of the overall bus market in May this year (an increase of 16%), making it the main driving force for the growth of the bus market in May.
Among the top 10 light bus sales in May 2024, JMC ranked first, followed by SAIC Maxus and Changan Auto.

From January to May 2024, a total of 170,400 light buses were sold, a cumulative year-on-year increase of 16.1%. However, this growth rate was lower than the growth rate of the overall bus market from January to May this year (20.88%).
In May 2024, 33,700 light buses were sold, an increase of 16.2% year-on-year and a decrease of 1.8% month-on-month.
In May this year, 21,430 new energy light buses were sold, a significant year-on-year increase of 100.5%. This growth rate was nearly 84.3 percentage points higher than the growth rate of the overall light bus market (16.2%) in May. From January to May this year, a total of 84,200 new energy light buses were sold, a cumulative year-on-year increase of 111.3%. This growth rate was nearly 95.2 percentage points higher than the growth rate of the overall light bus market (16.1%) from January to May.
