From the above we can see that Yuchai engines sell the most, followed by Xichai and Dongfeng Chaochai. However, the market shares of the top three decrease year on year.
Sales of school buses are increasing, while the growth rate is decreasing
In the first half year, the absolute sales were increasing. The sales reached 1652 units in January, 4577 units in Jan.-Feb., 6489 units in Jan.-March, 8490 units in Jan.-April, 10022 units in Jan.-May and 11065 units in Jan.-June. However, the growth rate decreased year on year. The reasons are as follows:
(1) As the public-welfare program, school buses are hard to get supports. Experts concerns that if the government reduces the subsidies, the promotion of school buses will become difficult.
(2) There is no unified operation mode. Unlike American school bus market where exist well-established laws and regulations, we are lack of unified operation standards in China.
(3) There is no strict school bus management system. To some extent, the disorder and turmoil in the school bus market is related to the lack of school bus management system.
(4) There are no mandatory regulations to the promotion of school buses. We have no authoritative stipulations on the subject of operation, operation mode and the bus models in China.
(5) Lacking unified supervision mechanism and departments leads to disorderly competition.
Light school buses play a key role due to China’s particular conditions
Above data prove that light buses are the most popular ones in China’s school bus market. Due to the subsidy policy and urban demands, most private kindergartens prefer light school buses, which are cheaper and convenient.
In fact, students in rural areas instead of in large-and-medium-sized cities are more in need of school buses. Considering the particular conditions, the governments are inclined to promote the development of school buses in villages and towns.
School bus manufacturers concern more about the adaptability of school buses in the villages and towns. They make thousands of field tests and simulation experiments for the adjustment of the school buses.
