China’s Sales Volume of New Energy Buses & Coaches Reached 2,962 Units in January，2021
According to the latest statistics, China’s sales volume of new energy buses & coaches reached 2,962 units, including 2,571 units new energy city buses (down by 11.5% year on year) and 391 units coaches. COVID-19, decreasing financial support and saturation of the new energy bus market, plus the declining passenger flow on some cities’ bus routes, have all contributed to the decline of new energy bus sales. The total sales volume of new energy buses & coaches accounted for 15% of China’s total sales volume of buses and coaches in January.
The sales of new energy city buses accounted for 86.8% of the total sales of new energy buses & coaches while the sales of new energy coaches made up only 13.2% of the market.
Yutong, CRRC Electric, King Long and Zhongtong were the top three players in the market.
With a sales volume of over 700 units new energy buses & coaches, Yutong made up 29.4% of the market; CRRC Electric accounted for 13.8% of the market with its monthly sales volume reaching 356 units; King Long ranked the third place with a sales volume of 304 units, accounting for 11.8% of the market; Zhongtong ranked the fourth place with a sales volume of 301 units, accounting for 10.25% of the market.
Higer, with a sales volume of 229 units new energy buses & coaches and a market share of 8.9% in January, ranked the fifth place in the market; Ankai, Foton AUV and BYD followed with their monthly sales volume reaching 196 units, 123 units and 101 units respectively and their market share standing at 7.6%, 4.8% and 3.9% respectively. Zhongqi Hongyuan and Nanjing Iveco, with their sales volume reaching 64 and 45 units and their market share standing at 2.5% and 1.8%, ranked the ninth and the tenth place in the market.
The sales volume of new energy buses measuring from 8- to 9-meter in length accounted for 45.6% of the total sales volume, up by 0.8 percentage point year on year. Those measuring from 10- to 11-meter in length made up 33.1% of the market, down by 0.6 percentage point year on year. Those measuring from 6- to 7-meter in length accounted for 9.6% of the market, up by 0.3 percentage point year on year.
